Lasting Results?

Another therapy branding consultant says, ”If you are not prepared to commit to a branded niche, then consider adding life-coaching services to appeal to today’s consumer looking for quick solutions rather than long term insight.”
This appeals to me as a therapist not only because I can offer help to a wider range of clients but also because it feels good to feel more current and up to date. Of course the extra income is a bonus too!
But wait... if I offer modern consumers the convenience, accesibility and solutions they are wanting, (which is a good thing, right?), do these ‘results’ last? Is it not the proverbial sticking plaster....?

Therapy or Coaching?

Over the past decade or so there has been an interesting - and sometimes heated – debate about the differences between therapy and coaching. It seems that coaches are often seeing more clients, getting paid more money and getting more visibility and respect. For those of us as therapists, this has both intrigued and at times offended us.... after all, we have put in substantial work and investment to offer what coaches offer! I think coaching has emerged as a response to the speed and solution orientation of our modern world where everything is measured in nanoseconds instead of minutes.... and as such accesses people who wouldn’t necessarily choose therapy. As a branding consultant to therapists says, “Nobody wants to buy therapy anymore, they want to buy a solution to a problem. If you want clients then you need a brand”
